Database Backup Verifier
Verifies that database backups completed successfully. Alerts on failures or gaps.
Template
Daily at 7am:
1. Check backup storage (S3, GCS, or your backup service API) for recent backups
2. For each database in the watchlist, verify:
- A backup exists for yesterday
- Backup file size is reasonable (not 0 bytes, not wildly different from previous)
- Backup timestamp is within the expected window
3. Alert conditions:
- No backup found: "CRITICAL: No backup for {database} yesterday"
- Backup size anomaly (>50% different from average): "Warning: {database} backup size unusual ({size} vs avg {avg})"
- Backup older than 36 hours: "Backup gap: {database} last backup was {hours} hours ago"
4. Weekly: backup health report (all databases, backup sizes, success rate)
